COVID-19 Office Protocols

In recognition of ongoing news reports and the continued spread of the COVID-19 virus, we realize our patients may have questions. As dedicated health care professionals, we want you to know that we remain as diligent as ever in protecting the health and safety of our patients and staff. Our practice strictly adheres to, and exceeds, the ADA, CDC, and OSHA standards for infection control by wearing personal protective gear, using hospital-grade disinfectants, practicing the latest sterilization protocols, utilizing single-use disposable materials, and more. We have taken additional steps and added specialized equipment to disinfect all common surfaces that may become contaminated, including doorknobs, waiting room furniture and coffee bar, light switches, computers and keyboards, etc. Every effort we have in place is to ensure the safety of our patients and staff. We want you to know that we are monitoring this situation very closely, and we will keep you updated regularly.

Office Updates, Infection Control, and Your Safety

We have the responsibility to keep our patients and team members safe. For this reason, we strive to meet and exceed the ADA, CDC, and OSHA Infection Control safety standards and guidelines for medical facilities.

As new standards for safety and precaution have evolved, we have changed many office policies in an effort to ensure the safety and health of our dental environment. The new protocols will be on our website as well as communicated with you before your appointment.

We have added medical grade air purifiers and high speed evacuation systems with HEPA-13 air filtration systems that eliminate fine and ultra-fine particles like bacteria and viruses from the air. This helps eliminate aerosols created during some procedures, and ensures the air circulating in our office is clean.

We have added medical grade sterilization fogger machines that are capable of cleaning all surfaces that could become contaminated. These will be used in every treatment room between patients as well as the reception area and throughout the entire office.

We have added to our personal protective equipment. This is to ensure the safety of our patients. We will be wearing N95 or KN95 masks as well as Level 3 surgical masks over them. We will also be wearing gowns, gloves, hair covers, and face shields when needed. All of these items will be changed between patients.

Finally, we have added shields around the reception desk in order to provide a separation of patients and team members in the front office.

We are available in the office to take new patient and current patient phone calls and remain available by phone, email, and text at all times. In addition, we are offering virtual consultations. Please visit our contact us tab to read more about how you can communicate with us from the comfort and safety of your home.

Rescheduling and Expanded Hours

As we find a new sense of normalcy, we realize there may be time and economic constraints for many people. We want to make ourselves available to you in order to fulfill your dental needs in a timely manner. We have expanded our office hours to as follows:

Monday-Thursday 7:30am-5pm

Friday 8:00am-3:00pm

Appointment Protocols

  • Appointments will be confirmed 24-48 hours prior to scheduled appointment.
  • Screening forms will be completed on our website or over the phone if you prefer.
  • It is required that we complete this questionnaire prior to your appointment. If this step cannot be completed, we will have to reschedule the appointment.
  • If you are sick or do not feel well, please inform the office so we can reschedule the appointment.
  • We are limiting the number of people in the office at one time in order to minimize contact with others. Upon arrival for your appointment, please remain in your car or outside and call the office to let us know you are here. We will inform you when to come in the office.
  • Please keep your mask on as you come in the office and use the complimentary hand sanitizer upon entering the office.
  • You will be escorted to a treatment room and asked to rinse with an oral pre-rinse and wash your hands with disinfecting soap.
  • We will take your temperature.
  • After treatment we will check you out virtually in the treatment room and schedule your next appointment if needed and then escorted out of the treatment room.

We thank you in advance, and extend our gratitude for your understanding and cooperation. Together, we can help keep everyone as safe and healthy as possible. Things will look different in the office going forward, but you can count on smiles under our masks, and we intend for you all to leave smiling as well.

With guidance from the CDC, American Dental Association, and DC Dental Board we have worked to ensure that our operations can return to normal safely. As always, we will continue to keep you informed on any developments that may affect treatment or the current recommendations. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us at (202)965-3051, email georgetownden[email protected], or cell phone.
